Many of you made your concerns known by participating in my annual district survey about issues. Many of the topics mentioned in the survey did not make it far in the legislature this year - legalizing daily fantasy sports contests, extending the sit-lie ban, or the state lottery. Attempts to increase the GET by 1% for education purposes and to increase the gas tax and the vehicle registration fee were also killed by the House. I was on record strongly opposing both the 1% GET increase and any attempts to increase the gas tax or vehicle registration fees. Our survey results showed that residents were 61.6% against a 1% GET increase and 79.4% against a gas tax increase. I also voted in favor of a measure requiring the Department of Transportation to conduct a feasibility study on an inter-island and intra-island ferry system – which 67.4% of survey respondents favored. Thanks to all who participated in this year's survey - nearly 700 households’ district wide!
