Mililani Residents, please be advised of the following lane closures and potential traffic backlogs for the week of September 15 through September 19. These are state road closures – please be advised there may also be city road closures affecting traffic throughout Mililani:
According to the Honolulu Authority on Rapid Transit (HART), work will continue on the H-1/H-2 Freeway in regards to the design and construction of the Honolulu rail project. On Sunday, September 14 through Thursday, September 18, two southbound lanes of the H-2 Freeway (approaching the Waiawa Interchange – H-1/H-2 merge) will be closed overnight between 8:30PM and 4:00AM.
Kamehameha Highway The state Department of Transportation has advised that partial lane closures of Kamehameha Highway will continue from Monday, September 15 through Friday, September 19 for utility installations. The partial closures will occur in both directions between Kuahelani Avenue and Waihau Street from 8:30AM to 3:00PM.
Upcoming Construction – Beginning October 6
According to the state Department of Transportation, beginning the evening of October 6, Kamehameha Highway will be closed in both directions for road resurfacing and reconstruction work. Road closures on Kamehameha Highway will be between Ka Uka Boulevard to Lanikuhana Avenue. Closures will take place on Sunday evenings through Friday mornings from 8:30PM to 4:00AM.
Prior to the full nighttime closure, message boards will be posted near Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue, as a reminder to motorists. Additionally, the DOT will also get the closure message out via the media and its website: hidot.hawaii.gov.
Furthermore, motorists should also be aware that construction will still continue on Kamehameha Highway during the day. Motorists can expect single lane closures, in both directions, on Kamehameha Highway between Lanikuhana Boulevard and Waihau Street. Construction will continue to take place Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 3:00PM. Work being done includes guardrail, sidewalk/curb, and bus pad work.
The nighttime closure of Kamehameha Highway will not begin until the evening of October 6.
