Councilmember Ron Menor and Council Chair Ernie Martin hosted a town hall meeting on the Meheula Parkway repaving project. At the meeting, Director Chris Takeshige of the city's Department of Facility Maintenance explained that work has already started on the Meheula Parkway project, which is expected to be completed within a year. Money for the project was allocated prior to other paving project allocations in Mililani, but tree roots and other complications delayed the project, which was supposed to begin in 2013.
According to Director Takeshige, contractor Grace Pacific will begin work at the intersection of Lanikuhana Ave. and Meheula Parkway, and work towards the worst section of the road between H1 and Mililani Town Center. They chose their starting point at the end of Meheula Parkway to ensure that their equipment and trucks do not do any damage to newly paved roads.
The contractor was also required by the city to submit a traffic mitigation plan to limit the inconvenience to Mililani drivers. Updates on the roadwork and the traffic mitigation plan will be forthcoming from city agencies.
